About Us

Bolivia Clasica is a non-profit foundation empowering young people from all backgrounds through transformative arts education. We forge alliances with world-class artists and organizations around the world, and produce performing arts festivals that celebrate excellence and foster a thriving cultural community across Bolivia and beyond.

Bolivia Clasica has established an inventory of hundreds of instruments, including a brand new grand piano, facilitating access to an abundance of students and visiting musicians. Dozens of guest artists from around the world have come to Bolivia to perform and coach over the years, establishing strong ties with local students and teachers, and a whole generation of bright talents has been allowed to shine.

Our scope has broadened as we grow; in addition to focusing on individual teaching, Bolivia Clasica has introduced orchestral programs where teaching happens en masse, creating a breeding ground for emerging talents which might otherwise remain dormant. By placing emphasis on collaborative efforts, we can bring added value to existing social and educational projects which have sought out our support.

We have established an ever expanding, diverse network of professional collaborators and supporters, with a dedicated 501c3 in the United States, a registered charity in the U.K. as well as the Fundación Bolivia Clásica in Bolivia. Fundraising efforts have resulted in unprecedented support from both the public and the private sector, with most of the funds raised in Bolivia. Ever grateful to our generous sponsors, we continue to explore ways to guarantee sustainability in the longer term.

– Teaching Values: Music education allows us to link a system of values to creativity, passion, and emotion. It has been proven that music education enriches discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, punctuality, responsibility, creativity, sensitivity, and the desire to excel. The changes observed in students’ attitudes and habits tend to positively influence all other areas of their lives on a personal, family and social level. Achievements in musical discipline do not depend on money or economic status but on individual effort; this has consequences throughout the value chain and, in particular, provides a solid foundation for honesty and the value of work: doing over having, being over appearing. Musical training introduces and promotes healthy and intelligent attitudes, and this undoubtedly has a morally positive influence.

– Awakening Passion: It is imperative to expand culture in a society because it is spiritual and intellectual nourishment, and we must be able to instil a love and passion for music and the arts in all social strata. Without their cultural centres, meeting places or places of congregation, cities are dead entities. Today, many nations consider culture to be a human right. Our programme will include educational tools that incorporate knowledge of all musical cultures known in Bolivia, demonstrating that by excelling and achieving excellence in a particular language, we appreciate all other languages and cultures more. Passion is awakened when children or young people observe the results of their individual progress and discover their ability to learn and understand.

– Cultivating Talent: Our children have the right to develop to their full potential and beyond, without limits, whether artistically, socially, personally, or culturally. Thus, through excellence, we can generate not only a social impact – preserving childhood and youth from aimless leisure – but also an artistic one. The stimulation of individual talent, guidance, and inspiration for the entire group helps to improve everyone’s work.

Musical mastery is cultivated without limiting educational excellence under the guise of its larger scale.

– Giving back: Bolivia Clasica alumni are now spread across various parts of the world, successfully forging their own career paths. Most have already been back to Bolivia to perform and teach, many support current students via online teaching, and in turn are sponsoring them in various ways, paving the way for the next generations.

– Impartir Valores: El aprendizaje musical permite unir un sistema de valores a la creatividad, la pasión y la emoción. Está ya fundamentado que la educación musical enriquece la disciplina, autoestima, el trabajo en equipo, la puntualidad, la responsabilidad, la creatividad, sensibilidad y el deseo de superación. Los cambios observados en las actitudes y hábitos de los estudiantes tienden a influenciar positivamente todas las otras áreas de sus vidas a nivel personal, familiar, social. Los logros en la disciplina musical no dependen del dinero ni del estatus económico sino del esfuerzo individual; esto tiene consecuencias en toda la cadena de valores, y en particular le proporciona sólidos pilares a la honestidad y al valor del trabajo: el hacer por encima del tener, el ser por encima del parecer. La formación musical introduce y promueve actitudes sanas e inteligentes, y esto tiene sin duda una influencia moralmente positiva.

– Despertar Pasión: Es imperativo expandir la cultura en una sociedad porque esta es un alimento espiritual e intelectual y debemos poder inculcar un amor y pasión por la música y las artes en todos los estratos sociales. Sin sus centros culturales, sitios de reunión o congregación, las ciudades son entidades muertas. Hoy en día muchas naciones consideran la cultura como un derecho humano. Nuestro programa incluirá herramientas pedagógicas que incorporarán el conocimiento de todas las culturas musicales conocidas en Bolivia, demostrando que al superarnos y logrando excelencia en un lenguaje particular apreciamos más todos los demás lenguajes y culturas. Despertar pasión se logra cuando el niño o el joven observa el resultado de su progreso individual, y descubre su facultad de conocer y entender.

– Cultivar Talento: Nuestros niños tienen el derecho de poder desarrollarse al punto máximo de su potencial y más allá, sin límites, ya sea artísticamente, socialmente, personalmente y culturalmente. Es así que a través de la excelencia podemos generar un impacto no solamente social, preservando la infancia y la juventud del ocio sin dirección, pero también artístico. El estímulo del talento individual, guía e inspiración para el grupo entero, ayuda a mejorar el trabajo de todos.
